Meowscarada can be strong, but the player needs to pick their battles with it. At least it has six resistances to make up for that last negative, but it doesn't change how many options opponents have against it. However, it's unlikely to last long in a sustained battle due to its poor defenses and wide variety of weaknesses. Flower Trick also makes it potentially the single best counter to any Pokémon weak to Grass in the game, since the guaranteed critical hit is essentially an unavoidable shot of massive damage. Overall, Meowscarada has a definite role as a fast physical sweeper. With Charizard confirmed to be in Scarlet and Violet, Meowscarada will have many tough opponents to overcome. In addition, Meowscarada lacks a truly powerful Dark-type move, with its best offerings being Night Slash, with 70 power, and Foul Play, which has 95 power, but uses the opponent's Attack rather than Meowscarada's own massive strength, limiting its viability somewhat. This is not helped by Meowscarada's Grass/Dark-typing giving it seven weaknesses, with one being a quad weakness to Bug. With below-average defensive stats and HP, it needs to make its first attack count, because it's liable to take heavy damage in return. Meowscarada's first big weakness is its frailty. With Flower Trick's decent power combined with Meowscarada's attack, it could likely turn Meowscarada into an outright assassin against Water, Rock, and Ground Pokémon. There is also Meowscarada's signature move, Flower Trick, which is guaranteed to hit and score a critical hit, making it even more powerful than Zarude's formidable Jungle Healing in Sword and Shield. It also has a solid movepool, giving it solid physical attacks for both its Grass- and Dark-types, as well as strong physical coverage moves like U-Turn and Play Rough. It has a high chance of striking first, and when it does, it can hit hard. Despite its design being based on a stage magician, Meowscarada is a physical powerhouse. Meowscarada's biggest advantage is its Speed and Attack. Meowscarada may have the potential to be another standout among Grass-types, however. Although there are some undeniably strong Grass Pokémon like Tsareena and Sceptile, they tend to be the exception. One can look at how underrated Meganium is as a Pokémon starter evolution for an example. Even though it holds an advantage over the ubiquitous Water-type, Grass has a reputation for simply not being strong. With five weaknesses, it doesn't have a lot of perks defensively either. One reason for this is that Grass is a weak type offensively, being resisted by seven types while only being super effective against three. Grass-type Pokémon have been historically underrated despite being one of the three starter types. Here's everything players should know if they want to get Mewoscarada in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. With one of the cooler designs of the new Pokémon revealed so far, Meowscarada already has a lot going for it. Pokémon Scarlet and Violet are offering players a selection of new starter Pokémon to choose from, one of which is the Grass-type Sprigatito, whose final evolution is Meowscarada.
